Sometimes there is no SEO solution

Post by sumaiyakhatun27 »

Sometimes SEO isn't the solution to improving a site's ranking, says Mueller:

One thing to keep in mind is that the SEO solution may simply not exist. 6 years is a long time, and the web + Google News + everything related to it has changed a lot.
Sometimes it's not a technical issue, sometimes it's not something that can be fixed by just buying a bunch of links, sometimes it's just that the site's strategy is outdated.

48. Google indexes mobile versions of pages by default
The move to mobile-first indexing means that by default, Google indexes mobile versions of pages, not desktop versions.

For sites with separate mobile URLs, the m-dot version will be used for indexing.

The change related to mobile-first indexing is that we will use the mobile version (m-dot) taiwan rcs data as the indexing version, rather than the www (desktop) version. For most sites, this change has already taken effect. If your site is already indexed using the mobile version, nothing will change.

49. Don’t rely on traffic from Google Discover
Referral traffic from Google Discover can fluctuate, so it's important not to rely on it as a constant source.

…With Discover, there's no tie to a specific query. So it's really hard to say what you should expect because you don't know how many people are interested in that topic and where we can potentially show it.
So if you see a lot of visual data from Google Discover, I think that's great. I would just be cautious and understand that it can change pretty quickly.

50. Link Building with Digital PR
Mueller is positive about link building through a digital PR strategy. He clarifies that it is not spam. In fact, it can play the same role as technical SEO.

I like some aspects of digital PR strategy. It's a shame that it's often confused with spammy link building. It's just as important as technical SEO, and in many cases even more important.
