What are the negative effects of excluding products?
As I mentioned at the beginning of this episode of the SEO Podcast, the process of disabling products applies to every online store. In such a situation, it is best to have a so-called procedure prepared, i.e. an action that is performed every time, during a recurring situation. While the unavailable product will remain visible, without the possibility of purchasing it, in the case of complete hiding it in the store, a permanent redirection to the category in which it was located should be performed. And such an action should be performed by an employee who has knowledge about redirects or an SEO specialist or SEO agency whose services you use in the field of positioning.
And the situation related to "404" errors by Google is so serious that in the case of detecting incorrect and deleted URLs, the position for keywords associated with a given address will simply drop. The problem with incorrect URLs does not only concern the action of removing products in an online store, but any subpage that is indexed in the Google search engine and irretrievably removed from the service.
Another problem that accompanies the removal of subpages from a website, or products and categories in an online store, directly affects the reduction of the volume of the website, and thus the number of subpages in the search engine index decreases. As a result, with each removal we reduce the visibility of our website in Google. Of course, everything really depends on how important from the point of view of visibility in Google we are excluding the subpage, category or product and how many keywords are associated with a given URL address.
