Messaging services offer many benefits, including the ability to fall back to a long code number to send to a country that doesn't support alphanumeric senders. Setting up your Messaging Service only takes a few minutes, so let's set one up now. Creating and Configuring a Messaging Service To create a Messaging Service, go to the Twilio Console and from the Messaging menu , select Services .
On this page, click Create Messaging Service to view the 4-step process. Step 1 give your new Messaging Service a name. Step 2 Next, add an alphanumeric sender to your Messaging Service.

When you do, a dialog box opens asking you for the sender type; choose "Alpha Sender" Click Continue , then enter the alphanumeric sender of your choice. There are some rules you must follow: the identifier can be up to 11 characters long and at least one of them must be a letter.
