ByteDance, the origin of the TikTok story
In reality, TikTok’s history is not as long as Facebook’s , nor as australia number data fast-paced as X’s origins , but it is a success story all its own. We have to go back to 2016 to mention ByteDance , the Chinese technology company that launched the app in its home market, first as A.me (September 2016) and then as Douyin (December 2016). That same year, in 2017, TikTok acquired Musical.ly for $1 billion . This was another Chinese social media service that also specialized in creating videos and live broadcasts, which allowed its users to create videos between 15 and 60 seconds long, using different filters, effects and speed options. However, it was not until August 2, 2018 that the result of the merger between TikTok and Musical.ly (which would keep the TikTok name) was available and the accounts, content and followers of the musers (as Musical.ly users called themselves) were automatically transferred to the new app.
